Techniques Used

Every person is unique—and so is their healing. At Claudia Caldas Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine, we believe in honoring your individual journey.

Here, treatment is not just a protocol, but a partnership. In your initial consultation, we’ll take the time to listen deeply, understand your needs, and create a personalized care plan together.

In addition to acupuncture, your sessions may include complementary techniques such as guasha, cupping, moxibustion, tuina, herbal medicine, nutritional guidance, and bodywork—always tailored to your body and your story.

We’re here to support your wellbeing—gently and compassionately.

Guasha is a traditional Chinese medicine technique in which the skin is gently scraped with a smooth tool to stimulate blood circulation, relieve muscle tension, reduce inflammation, and promote the body’s natural healing. It is relaxing and therapeutic.

Tuina patient sits or lies on a treatment table while a practitioner uses rhythmic hand movements—pressing, kneading, and stretching—to stimulate acupuncture points and energy channels. The setting is calm, with warm lighting and natural elements, creating a therapeutic and balanced atmosphere.

Cupping is a technique that involves placing suction cups on the skin to create a vacuum. This suction helps increase blood flow, relieve muscle tension, reduce inflammation, and promote healing. Like Guasha, cupping is often used for pain relief and relaxation.

Herbs are natural remedies used in traditional Chinese medicine to balance the body’s energy, support healing, and treat various health conditions. They are often prescribed as teas, powders, or capsules based on individual needs.

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese therapy that uses burning moxa (mugwort) near the skin to warm acupuncture points. It promotes energy flow, relieves pain, boosts immunity, and restores balance, especially in cases of cold or stagnation.

Nutrition and bodywork guidance combines personalized dietary advice with physical therapies to support overall health, energy balance, and healing. It aims to nourish the body from within while addressing tension, posture, and movement through therapeutic touch and lifestyle practices.
